• TOM CORBETT AND SOMERSET’S LOVE LETTER TO PARIS

Paris is undeniably the fashion center of the world (as long as you don’t ask the Italians). It’s the creative center for most of the best fashion houses in the world, and the crucible of dreams for anyone who wants to be a part of that world. For their latest collaboration, Tom Corbett and the Somerset Collection brought themselves to the City of Lights to bring their best effort to date.

“It was a real team effort,” says Tom and this one was no exception. For the last eight years, Tom has been shooting with Somerset, working most closely with Kathy Moore (Art Director) and Linda McIntosh (Marketing Director). They’ve been pushing themselves every season to go further and bigger and better. And then they found themselves almost painted in a corner. They had gone so far the last time that this time they really had to go for the gold. So they decided to bring the shoot to Paris. “It’s kind of amazing that we got to shoot in Paris. It was a dream,” says Tom with astonishment. “I struggled to take a bad shot. The architecture is outrageous. The fashion was all haute couture, and it just worked perfectly in that situation.”

They ended up capturing a commanding library of images, thanks to everyone’s hard work and focus, maximizing every minute that they were on assignment. The biggest challenge on the shoot? “Choosing what to have for dinner every night was the biggest challenge,” Tom says with a laugh. But seriously, being overseas on such a big shoot really raised the stakes and Tom did everything in his power to make sure not a moment was wasted. “It was such an opportunity to do an amazing story. We had to push harder than I normally push and it wasn’t an easy process but the pictures were absolutely beautiful. And the locations made it a wonderful situation.” For Tom, being in Paris really was the best part of the whole situation.

To bring this vision to life in that city was a chance that Tom wasn’t going to take lightly, and his pleasure is palpable in the images’ energy. “I felt so honored to be there, to shoot a story of this magnitude in Paris. It was a real dream,” says Tom. “I wanted to make every picture the best it could possibly be. I feel satisfied that we did that. We had an amazing team. We had the best assistants, the best hair and make-up. The models were absolutely fantastic.” When each of those elements came together, every piece balanced and the results speak for themselves.
